If you couldn't tell it was summer based on the extreme heat, the beginning of the 184th Salem Campmeeting Friday should clue you in.
The interdenominational campmeeting arrives like clockwork every year and offers families near and far a place of peaceful worship, spiritual renewal and good old-fashioned fun.
The campmeeting begins today and runs through July 13, and worship services are at 10:45 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. The public is invited to the campmeeting's various events.
Search campmeeting at CovNews.com to see profiles on this year's guest speakers and to learn more history about the event. You can also visit salemcampground.org for more information; the camp is located at 3940 Salem Road.
The annual event takes a lot of planning, and we offer much thanks to former Covington Mayor Sam Ramsey and his family for all of their efforts. Sam also serves as the unofficial mayor of the campground.
We recommend that you attend a service or two; in these tough economic times, a little extra prayer could go a long way.
