We are delighted that after almost a decade of work that District 2 will finally see work begin on a new park located across Ga. Highway 212 from Oak Hill Elementary.
Many people had to give extra efforts to ensure that this park became a reality. Past and present Newton County commissioners as well as members of the Newton County Recreation Commission should be commended for their work.
We also praise the selection of a hometown construction company, Sunbelt Builders, for the physical production of the property.
The park also has been given an appropriate namesake. In addition to formerly serving as a state representative, Denny Dobbs has donated both monetarily and through volunteer work for the recreation commission. His years of service will be properly honored when Denny Dobbs Park opens for the public in the spring of 2010.
