Making a miracle

Dear Editor: The Newton County Recreation Commission would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the Newton County community for coming out Friday evening, Sept. 7, to attend the John Berry concert on the downtown square. One of Newton's most active corporate partners, General Mills, made the concert possible in celebration of their 20th anniversary of calling Covington/Newton County "home."

Heartfelt thanks to Mark Bible, plant manager, for bringing John Berry to Covington. In addition to General Mills, special thanks to Chick-fil-A, Joe Pittman, Score Photo and United Bank for providing the concessions - and donating all proceeds to the Miracle League of Newton County.

The Miracle League makes dreams come true for children with special needs and with continued community and corporate support, a Miracle League Field will soon become a reality at City Pond Park for Covington/Newton County youth.

Additional thanks to the Newton County Board of Commissioners, the City of Covington, Covington Rotary Club, Covington Kiwanis Club, Friends of Newton Parks, Brett Light with Coca-Cola Bottling, Clara Deemer with the Covington/Newton County Chamber of Commerce, Josephine Kelly-Burnett with Main Street Covington, and Stacey Cotton and the Covington Police Department. The Recreation Commission and Miracle League of Newton County thank all who attended the concert to help make a miracle happen!
