Dear Editor,

What an amazing community we are fortunate to all call home!  For the second year, Action Ministries has sponsored a Dine Out, Do Good Event with proceeds going to help fund our SuperPack Program (one of our signature hunger relief programs that provide food packets to school-aged children who face hunger on the weekends).  Through the generosity of 21 participating restaurants here in Newton (along with four in Rockdale)….almost $15,000 was raised to help alleviate hunger in our local communities!  Those funds will allow Action Ministries to provide over 3,700 SuperPacks – which equates to 22,200 weekend meals.  Absolutely amazing!  To all of the citizens of Newton and Rockdale who chose to Dine Out on Nov. 10…heartfelt thanks!  And to our participating restaurants and sponsors…THANK YOU so very, very much!  Participating restaurants included: Amici’s, Blimpie’s (Covington and Conyers), Bradley’s BBQ (Covington  and Conyers), Bullritos, Burrito Loco, Chick-fil-A (Covington and Conyers), El Charro (both Covington locations), Frank’s, Irish Bred Pub, Jersey Mike’s, Jimmy John’s, Mamie’s Kitchen Biscuits, Moe’s (Conyers), Plain Nuts, Stalvey’s, The  Company Store, The Mystic Grille, The Social House, Walden’s, Where  There’s Smoke BBQ, Your Pie, and Zaxby’s (all three Covington locations).  Each of these amazing restaurant partners donated 10% of their gross sales on Nov. 10. Additional very special thanks to our sponsors of this event:   Piedmont Newton Hospital, Snapping Shoals Unclaimed Capital Credits, Pinnacle Realty, John Garrett State Farm Agency, Element Funding, and Dr. & Mrs. Bradley G. Jacoby.  Over 70 percent of our Newton & Rockdale school children rely on free and reduced lunches during the school year. Many can face hunger on the weekends. Action Ministries is now serving almost 300 children every Friday here in Newton and Rockdale with SuperPacks.  No one wants to imagine a child being hungry. Through the generosity of MANY, Action Ministries is working to alleviate child weekend hunger….one SuperPack at a time!  Thank you, Newton & Rockdale County restaurants, sponsors, and to all those came out to Dine out!  Happy Holidays to each of you!

With gratitude,

Tamara Richardson
