Dear Editor: In the Wednesday, August 12, Covington News, you stated that Commissioner Earnest Simmons suggested that the director of the Nelson Heights Community Center be a county employee. This quote is incorrect; my suggestion was that the board of directors for the Nelson Heights center come before the Board of Commissioners to give the proposed budget, mission statement, goals and the center operations - as was accurately reported in the Covington News by reporter Gabriel Khouli. My statement referred to County Attorney James Griffin's suggestion to District 4 Commissioner J.C Henderson that he make the director of the community center a county employee to give that person health benefits.
