Over the years, a group of local men have met every Friday to pray and read the Bible; from one of those meetings, the annual legislative breakfast was born.
Every year during the first week of January these gentleman invited our local legislators and members of the community to gather in fellowship in order to offer prayer and encouragement.
Last year the local Rotary and Kiwanis clubs took over the organization of this event.
Jackie Gingrich Cushman, whose column runs every Sunday in The Covington News, was the guest speaker and gave an inspirational talk.
More than 200 legislators and community members attended the breakfast.
This year's prayer breakfast has been set for Friday, Jan. 6, from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the Turner Lake complex.
This year's speaker is Covington News syndicated columnist Dick Yarbrough.
This event will again be free for the community, but you will need a ticket to enter.
Read Wednesday's paper to find out where tickets can be picked up.
