   Mr. Willie R. Saxton Jr. died April 10. The son of Mrs. Lizzie Hawk Saxton and the late Mr. Willie R. Saxton Sr., he was born in 1949 in Newton County. He graduated from R. L. Cousins High School in 1967. A very dedicated employee, Mr. Saxton worked at Dan River and PACTIV for several years. He joined Saint Paul A.M.E. Church at an early age and faithfully served until his death. Mr. Saxton was a proud member of the Senior Usher Board, a position he cherished. He devoted a lot of time to that position; in fact, he would often vacation time to be on duty as an usher for funerals. He was a loyal member who was always relied on and willing to serve in any capacity. Mr. Saxton had a loving, caring and friendly disposition. He was very devoted to his mother and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by niece Sylvia Freeman.

 Surviving are mother Mrs. Lizzie Saxton; sisters Mr. and Mrs. Mack (Gloria) Barkley, Mrs. Annie Scott; uncle Mr. Bobby Devoe; nieces Denise Hawk, Shirrel Hawk, Angela White; great nieces Roxanne, Jessica, Marcy, Latoya; step-nieces Connie (Harvey) Thomas, Samantha Barkley, Sheila Barkley; great-nephews Jarvis, Roderick, Derrick; step-nephews Lewis Barkley, Mack Barkley Jr.; long-time devoted friends Rosie Price, Linnie K. Nelson, Roy Lee Smith; other loving relatives and friends.

 Funeral services were held April 15 at St. Paul AME Church with Pastor Thomas Stegall, the Rev. E. Fladger, the Rev. H. Martin and the Rev. M. Davis officiating. Interment followed in New Covington Cemetery.
