Willie Mae Poole, 88, of Oxford, formerly of Franklin, N.C., passed away Aug. 18. Born in Guntersville, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Willie Melton and Alice Keylon Melton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Poole, who died in 2001 and a sister, Thelma Ryans. Mrs. Poole resided for 11 years at Merryvale Assisted Living Center in Oxford, where she enjoyed many activities. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklin, N.C.

She is survived by daughters, Donna Patton and husband, Pat, of Franklin, and Patricia Harris, of Social Circle; sister, Leota Patterson, of Rockwood, Tenn.; brothers, Troy Melton, of Rockwood, Tenn., and Glenn Melton, of Newberry, S.C.; two grandsons, Parks Harris and wife, Kathy, and Chad Harris; and great-grandchildren, Reid, Ryan, Morgan and Mason Harris.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 21, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. The Rev. Margaret Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to Abbey Hospice. Pallbearers will be Parks Harris, Chad Harris, Reid Harris, Ryan Harris, Mason Harris and Jim Shope.
