William "Bill" Henry Knight passed away at his home in Port Orange, Fla. on December 29, 2008. Mr. Knight was born on December 31, 1933 in Staunton, Va., the son of James and Mary (Bowen) Knight. He retired in 1972 from the United States Army after serving his country for 23 years. He enjoyed traveling and cooking for friends and family. Bill was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, a life time member of the VFW and the American Legion.

Survivors include his daughter: Rhonda (Danny) Allen of Oxford, Ga.; son William (Becky) Knight Jr. of Covington, Ga.; sister: Lorraine Taylor, of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren: Mandy (Chris) Johnson, Leslie Allen, Tammie (Kevin) Doughty, Trey Knight and Bethany Knight; great-grandchildren: Preston Johnson, Miranda Johnson; and a very special companion Linda Beckwith. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Earnest Wade Knight; brothers, Charlie, John, Gene, Tom and Bug.

There will be a grave side service held at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. The family has requested that any memorials be made in William H. Knight's name to the Volusia/Flagler Hospice at 3800 Woodbriar Tr., Port Orange, FL 32129.
