Vivian P. White of Covington passed away Aug. 1, 2013, at the age of 85.
Mrs. White was born August 8, 1927, in Jackson, to the late Walthal and Vernita (Kitchens) Pope. She and her husband, Lewis B. White, married Oct. 18, 1947, and the two of them then moved to Covington. Mrs. White was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church for 58 years, where she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class. In addition, she was a longtime, active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. White worked for both Fowler Fertilizer Co. and the Bank of Covington before retiring in 1997.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister, Thelma Fleming; and her brothers, Roland Pope and LaDon Pope.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Myron and Brenda White; granddaughter, Abby White, all of Hiram; sister, Annette Shoults of Tucker; brothers, Jerry Pope of Decatur, Dennis Pope of Braselton; sisters-in-law, Reba McCart of Covington and Wyolene Chafin of Richmond, Va.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. White will be at 1:30 p.m. today, Aug. 4, at First Baptist Church, in Covington, with the Rev. Charles Reynolds officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sanctuary Renovation Fund at First Baptist Church, 1139 Usher St., Covington, GA 30014.
