Vera Annette Oliver, 79, passed away July 21 at her home in Oxford. Mrs. Oliver was a professional seamstress, making everything from doll clothes to wedding dresses. Her daughter had the honor of wearing a wedding dress fashioned by her mother when she married. She was a member of North Rockdale Baptist Church, as well as Macedonia Baptist Church, in Oxford, serving as choir director in both churches. She also attended Corinth Christian Church. She taught herself to play the autoharp and piano and was a self-taught cake decorator. She loved collectibles and cooking, especially sausage gravy, preparing Thanksgiving meals and making German chocolate cakes.

Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by her parents, Joel B. and Julia Ella (Scurry) Quattlebaum and siblings Bill Quattlebaum, Coleman Quattlebaum, Ed Quattlebaum, Harvey Quattlebaum, and Dwight Quattlebaum.

Mrs. Oliver is survived by her husband of 61 years, George Oliver of Oxford; daughter Maureen Annette Marple of Oxford; sons and daughters-in-law Maurice Oliver of Atlanta, Michael and Helen Oliver of Warrenton, Va., Mark and Sande Oliver of West Palm Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings and their spouses Vivian Harris, Seydell and Fred Evans, Joyce and Charles Lovern, Rhamey and Charlotte Quattlebaum, Ramona Wilson, Joe and Virginia Quattlebaum, Maxine and Lawrence McLean, Irvin and Gloria Quattlebaum; sisters-in-law Frances Quattlebaum, Marlene Quattlebaum, Carol Quattlebaum; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Oliver will be held at 2 p.m., today, July 24, at Corinth Christian Church, 1635 Ga Highway 81, Loganville, with the Rev. Don Hardison and Brother Jim Sparacino officiating. Interment will following in Corinth Memorial Gardens.
