Tinsley Rucker Ginn of Covington passed away November 25, 2015, at the age of 89. After Mr. Ginn lost his parents, Tinsley Rucker, Sr., and Frances Davis Ginn at a very young age, he was raised by his Uncle and Aunt, S.A. and Lois Spears Ginn. A 1943 graduate of Covington High School, he then attended Oxford College. Mr. Ginn proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII, as a radio operator and rear seat gunner on the Avenger Torpedo Bomber. Following the war he attended and graduated from Emory University, with a degree in business. After graduation he began working for Ginn Motor Company, where he retired after 61 years at the age of 85. Mr. Ginn was a very active member of First Baptist Church, serving in many capacities. He was one of those who made sure that everyone who visited was properly and warmly welcomed. A member and past president of the Covington Kiwanis Club, he also served as a Georgia District Lieutenant-Governor. Mr. Ginn was a founding member of First National Bank of Newton County. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Lelia Ginn; sister, Martha Ellen McCord.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Sally D. Ginn; daughters and son-in-law, Amanda Ginn and James W. Rydel of Big Canoe, Lelia E. Ginn, Tinsley M. Ginn both of Atlanta; son and daughter-in-law, Marshall and Cathy Ginn of Covington; grandchildren, Zachary D. Rydel, Eleanor Ginn, Colton Ginn; sisters, Frances Stark of Covington, Elizabeth Alford of Lawrenceville, Stephanie Fortson of Covington.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ginn will be held Monday, November 30, 2015, 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Covington, with Dr. Cody McNutt, Dr. Robert L. Faulkner officiating. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road in Covington, Sunday, November 29, from 3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Newton County Humane Society, P.O. Box 2536, Covington, GA 30015, Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30318, or First Baptist Benevolence Fund, 1139 Usher Street, Covington, GA 30014.
