Ted W. Chancey of Covington, passed away August 28, 2010, at the age of 80. He was employed with Chancey’s Shoe Shop, where he worked in shoe repair for a number of years; and with Consolidated Shoe Company, at which time he traveled throughout Alabama for a short time. Mr. Chancey loved collecting antiques and knives, and enjoyed trading them both. He was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Katie Elizabeth Carr; parents, Rufus Wright and Minnie Ola (Dillard) Chancey; sister, Mildred Chancey; and brothers, Ned and Jack Chancey. Survivors include his son, Ted Wright Chancey, Jr., of Covington; sister, Bobbie Chancey Rutledge of Chattanooga, TN; sisters-in-law, Peggy Chancey of Covington, Nell Chancey of Columbus; granddaughters, Kimberly Chancey (Patrick) Nutt, Brittany Chancey (Kyle) Carr; great-grandchildren, Zach, Zoie, and Zaleigh Nutt; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Chancey will be held Monday, August 30, 2010, 1:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, with interment following in Campton United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Monroe. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, Monday, from 10 AM – 12 Noon. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to the church or charity of your choice.
