Mrs. Sara Frances Ray Penn, 89, of Covington passed away at Newton Medical Center Aug. 20. Mrs. Penn was born in Rockdale County, the daughter of the late Otis and Annie Dobbs Ray. She dearly loved her family above all. She always loved reading, crocheting and quilting, cooking for her family and friends, traveling, flea markets and gardening. Mrs. Penn was a member for the Porterdale Women’s Club and spent over 35 years as an employee at Bibb Manufacturing and was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Mrs. Penn was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William Randolph Penn, and her son, Wayne Penn.

She is survived by her children and spouses Gerald and Linda Penn of Rutledge, Kenneth and Nancy Penn of Covington, Cynthia and Haskell Johnston of Covington, Harold Penn of Covington, Janice and Russell Repetske of Athens, and Renee and Rick Bruce of Mansfield; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews, and her special friend and caregiver, Tricia Autry.

Funeral services for Mrs. Penn will be held at 2:30 p.m. today, Aug. 23, in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Bruce and the Rev. Russell Repetske officiating.
