Ruth J. Treadwell, of Porterdale, died October 2, 2009, at Atlanta Medical Center, at the age of 91. Born in Rockdale County to the late Grier and Pearl James, she was a member of Porterdale Baptist Church and enjoyed walking, yard work, embroidery, quilting and loved her cats. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jessie R. Treadwell. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Patsy Wright of Social Circle, Kay and Jim Balkey of Conyers; grandchildren, Sandy Benoit, Brad Reynolds, Lisha Smith, April Wright, Kevin Wright, Laura Berry; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Treadwell will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 11:00 AM, at the Floyd Street chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, with Dr. David Moody officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
