Ruth Gwendolyn Sims was born on April 12, 1927. She was known by her family as “Pook.” She was a graduate of Washington Street School and following her formal education, attended the Fort Valley State College.

Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Thomas C. Sims; mother, Drucilla A. Sims; daughter, Kaye J.S. Gaither; brothers, Herbert A. Sims and LaFar D. Sims; sister, Unis T. Howard; and nephew, Thomas M. Sims. Ruth was called to rest on Saturday, March 17, 2018.

Ruth is survived by two brothers, Dr. Edward H. Sims and Wiley A. Sims (Linda T.); sister-in-law, Mary F. Sims; three grandchildren, Lynn S. Kelly (Robert J.), Kimberly M. Norwood and Stephanie B. Sims; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
