Ruby J. Parks, of Covington, died September 30, 2009, at Newton Medical Center, at the age of 72. Born in Polk County, Tennessee to the late Charlie and Jimmie Louise Chambers Smith, she was a member of Gospel Mission in Almon and dearly loved her church. Mrs. Parks enjoyed cooking, especially biscuits and chocolate cake for her husband, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Mrs. Parks was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 5 brothers. Survivors include her husband, John D. Parks of Covington; daughters and sons-in-law, Doris J. and Gary Stowe of Covington, Gail and Mike Williamson of Monroe, Donna Mumford and Lamar (Bernard) Grant of Covington; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Parks of Covington, Dennis K. and Dale Parks of Covington, George Woodrow (Woody) Parks of Covington; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Parks will be held on Saturday, October 3, 11:00 AM, at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, with Pastor Wayne Whitley officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
