Roscoe Hammonds was born Jan. 9, 1938 to the late Robert and Annie Pearl Hammonds in Newton County and what a joy he was.

Roscoe was educated at Washington Street School. Later in life he went to work at Harper Freight Line, then was employed at Atlanta Freight Line until his retirement.

He was married to Marry Hurst and to this union was a son, Michael O’Neal Hammond. He later married Anna Mckibben.

Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Clayton Hammonds, Tommy Lee Livingston and sister, Johnnie Mae Floyd.

He leaves to cherish his memories, children, Michael O’Neal Hammonds, Keshia Hammonds and Roscoe Hammonds, Jr.; grandchildren, Tavaskia Hammonds, Tyquilla Hammonds and Jamall Hammonds; brothers, Mr. Robert Hammonds, Jr. (Irena) and Mr. Marion Lee Hammonds (Pat); sisters, Ms. Willie Pearl Lopez, Mrs. Sherry Reed (Chuck) and Mrs. Willie Nell Germany (Wayne), brother in-law, Mr. Eddie Floyd; aunts, Mrs. Mary Sue Brown and Mrs. Ida May Thomas special friend, Ms. Georgia Ann Avery; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A home-going celebration began at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 at Peeks Chapel Baptist Church, at 3185 Old Salem Road SE in Conyers, with the Rev. J.H Battle officiating.
