Mr. Robert W. (Sonny) Prince Jr., 80, of Monticello, passed away March 1. Mr. Prince was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was employed by General Motors – Lakewood Plant, and retired after 35 years of dedicated service.

Mr. Prince was an active member of New Rocky Creek Baptist Church, having served as a trustee of the church, was director of the brotherhood, and member of the church choir. He enjoyed gospel music, and loved to hunt and fish.
Mr. Prince was preceded in death by his son Michael Dunn; parents Robert Sr., and Mary Catherine (Finley) Prince; and his brother John W. (Salty) Prince.

Survivors include his wife Mary P. Prince; daughters and son-in-law Penny Prince of Austin, Texas; Dana and Kevin Davis of Lawrenceville; Lindsey Scarborough of Monticello; sons and daughter-in-law Robert W. Prince III, and his wife Patricia, of Waynesville, N.C.; Marc Prince of Lawrenceville; sister Ann P. Joyner of Lithonia; sister-in-law Suzanne Prince of Hampton; grandchildren Preston Prince, Elizabeth Prince, Travis Cockman, Robin Dunn, Regina Dunn, Jenna Davis, Jake Davis; great-grandchildren, William Prince, Jaden Dunn; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Prince will be held 4 p.m. today, March 3, at the Chapel of Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with Rev. Randy Reese and Dr. Robert W. Prince III, officiating, and interment following in Covington City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, two hours prior to his service, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to New Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 190 Rocky Creek Road, Monticello, GA 31064.
