Richard Eugene Slaughter of Covington, GA died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Abbey Hospice.  He was born on June 9, 1950 in Lithonia, GA to Howard Eugene and Dorothy Rebecca Slaughter.

Mr. Slaughter is survived by wife: Barbara Slaughter of Covington, GA; son and daughter-in-law:  Garrett and Mary Slaughter of Birmingham, AL; son: John Wayne Slaughter of Covington, GA; granddaughter: Savannah Leigh Slaughter; special extended family: Danny and Deidre Slaughter of Covington,GA,  Mason Slaughter of Covington, GA, Brianna Slaughter of Covington, GA, Grady Skinner of Covington, GA; sisters: Polly Lee of Covington, GA, Rebecca Evans of Mansfield, GA; brothers: Howard Slaughter of Epworth, GA, Phillip Slaughter of Mansfield, GA, Mark Slaughter of Covington, GA, Scott Slaughter of Oxford, GA, Tony Slaughter of Covington, GA; numerous neices and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents: Howard Eugene Slaughter and Dorothy Rebecca Slaughter and  brother: Danny Ray Slaughter.

Services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, December 12, 2010 in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Andy Parker officiating.  Interment will be at Lawnwood Memorial Park.
