Rev. Garland Stone

Rev. Garland Stone of Oxford passed away June 18, 2014, at the age of 71. Rev. Stone founded and served Full Gospel Holiness Church for 35 years, where he loved his church family as his own. He enjoyed woodworking, going to auctions and visiting Amish country. Rev. Stone was a kind-hearted man who never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, father and papa, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Robert and Frances (Palmer) Stone; and his brothers, Phillip Stone, Kennedy Stone and Larry Stone.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Joyce Stone; daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Larry Carter; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Deborah Stone, Todd and Belinda Stone, all of Walnut Grove; grandchildren, Brittani and Adam Rogers, Dawn and Kenneth Day, Lisa and Johnathon Rosser, Bubba and Kelsy Stone, Ben and Tori Stone, Bradley Stone, Blake Stone, Bethany and Justin Shaw; great-grandchildren, Karlee and Skylar Rosser, Aidyn and Ava Rogers, Kennedy and Carter Day, Addison and Alexis Stone; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Rev. Stone will be held Friday, June 20, 2014, 2:00 p.m., at Full Gospel Holiness Church, 3170 Highway 138 NW, in Monroe, with Rev. Larry Carter, Rev. Larry Peacock and Rev. June Locklear officiating, and interment following in Walnut Grove United Methodist Cemetery.
