Patricia "Patty" Louise Johnson Umphrey, 86, of Covington, died May 30. A native of El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Umphrey lived most of her life in the greater Atlanta area. A homemaker, she was a lifelong Southern Baptist with membership, recently, at Zion Baptist Church in Covington and, formerly, at Rainbow Park Baptist in Decatur and White Oak Hills Baptist in Atlanta and Stone Mountain. Mrs. Umphrey was preceded in death by her parents the Rev. Pat A. Johnson and Vinnie Caskey Johnson and sons, Robert Joe Umphrey and Michael Alan Umphrey.

She is survived by husband of 65 years Jack Rexford Umphrey; children Martha (David) Clay of Snellville, Ronnie Umphrey (Debbie Cope) of Conyers and Miriam (Bobby) Kidd of Windermere Fla.; daughter-in-law Debra Umphrey of Monticello; brother David Lee (Susan) Johnson of Valdosta; four grandsons; one granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; three nieces.

The memorial service for Patty Umphrey will be held 4 p.m., Sunday, June 2, at Zion Baptist Church, 7037 Hwy 212 North, Covington. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary beginning at 2 p.m. prior to the service.
