Nan Hollingsworth Franklin

Nan Hollingsworth Franklin of Covington passed away October 16, 2013, at the age of 75.

Ms. Franklin was born and raised in Covington, and was the captain of her Newton High School basketball team. She never judged others, but instead she accepted them as they were. This led to her creating lifelong, loyal friendships everywhere she lived. Ms. Franklin loved her family dearly, was blessed to have a
close relationship with her sisters and was her daughters’ greatest cheerleader.

Ms. Franklin was a gracious and caring lady who will be forever missed by her family and friends.

Ms. Franklin was preceded in death by her son, John Robert Franklin Jr.; parents, William Madison and Ella Mae Hollingsworth; twin sister, Annette Hollingsworth; brother, W.M. Hollingsworth; brother-in-law, Howard Mathis; and nephew, Brian Mathis.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Shelley and Scott Hawley, of Marietta, and Natalie and Art Reece, of Canton; former husband, Bob Franklin, of Mobile, Ala.; grandchildren, Heather and Alex Taylor, Catherine Hawley, Taylor Hawley, Erin Hawley, Porter Hawley, Corey Reece and Madison Reece; great-grandson, Logan Taylor; sisters and brother-in-law, Bearnice Mathis, Helen and Ellis Adams and Jean Hollingsworth; nieces and nephews, Teresa and Benny Higginbotham and Lynn and Sid Lajzer; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 18 at Lawnwood Memorial Park, in
Covington, with the Rev. Denise Beltzner officiating.
