Mrs. Sara Deason, age 79, a lifelong resident of Covington, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Abbey Hospice.  She was born August 6, 1933 to the late Ermine and Josephine Cartledge Johnson.  Mrs. Deason was a member of The Baptist Tabernacle and served the Lord her entire life.  She taught Sunday school for many years and was a past president of the WMU.  Mrs. Deason was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was preceded in death by her husband Rufus Deason.

 

Mrs. Deason is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Debra and Ronald Ray, brothers and sisters-in-law Ralph and Doris Johnson, Luther and Johnnie Ruth Johnson and Robbie and Marsha Johnson her grandchildren Ronnie Ray, Bobby and Tiffany Ray and Jonathan and Jessica Ray all of Covington along with her great grandchildren Taylor and Randy Loyd, Zachary Ray, Caitlin Ray, Kasey Ray, Jaxson Ray, Natalie Ray, Kyleigh Ray, Camden Ray, Addison Ray, and Claire Ray.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Deason will be held at 11 o’clock Friday, May 24, 2013 at The Baptist Tabernacle with Dr. R. Hudson Moody and Dr. David Moody officiating.  Her remains will lie in state from 10:00am until 11:00am prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Covington City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00pm until 9:00pm on Thursday, May 23, 2013.  J.C.
