Mrs. Nell Durand age 74 of Covington died Friday, June 12, 2009. She was born April 14, 1935 to the late Leroy and Tallulah (Queen) McElreath. Mrs. Durand was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, retired from Stanley Proto and after retiring from Stanley she worked for the Newton County School system and retired from there as well. Mrs Durand loved her grandchildren and working in her yard. She is preceded in death by her husband: Donald Gary Durand.

Mrs. Durand is survived by he sons and daughter-in law: Darrell Durand of Covington, Richard and Kim Durand of Covington; siblings: Lois and Billy Hammonds of Conyers, Billy and Helen McElreath of Covington, Thomas and Carol McElreath of Rutledge, Jean and Alan Nagy of Ohio; grandchildren: Scott and Cason Durnad, Matt, Bebe, Kensli, Kyle Durand; 2 great grandchildren: Anslie and Cope; several nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

The funeral service for Mrs. Durand was held at 2:00PM, Sunday, June 14, 2009 in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Jaques officiating.  Interment was in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
