Mrs. Margaret L. Cook, 85 of Oxford passed away Monday February 21, 2011 at Newton Medical Center. Mrs. Cook was born in Newton County to the late Guy and Viola Chapman McGiboney, Sr.. Mrs. Cook was a homemaker and a member of Grace Baptist Church. She loved working in the church and teaching Sunday school. She and her late husband were very active in the Brick Store Community and in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. She loved knitting, reading and her telephone friends. She was a loving mother to her two daughters who survive her, Brenda and John Hitchcock of Hiawassee, Ga. and Norma Jean Ivey of Oxford, a loving sister to her brother Guy and Carol McGiboney of Covington. She was predeceased by her husband Joe Cook. He passed away in 2001. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Cook will be held today at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Bone officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church in Covington or to a charity of your choice.
