Mrs. Dolores N. Biddy Rutland, age 71, of Covington passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015. She was born November 5, 1943, in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Thomas and Myrtie Nix. Dolores was a faithful daughter of our Heavenly Father. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Covington. She always connected with a local church wherever she lived. Dolores had a beautiful alto voice and loved singing praises to God. She loved God's Word and shared it with others through neighborhood Bible studies, Sunday school classes, and wherever she had opportunity to witness about His love. Her example as a follower of Jesus Christ inspired those around her to love and serve others. She had compassion for the lonely and for those who were in need. She had a passion for prayer and actively sought to develop others as prayer warriors. Before moving to Covington in 2006, Dolores had been a member of Zion Baptist Church and Rockdale Baptist Church in Rockdale County. Once she moved to Covington, she became an active member of First Baptist Church. Then when she moved to Florence, Alabama, she connected with Woodmont Baptist. She returned to Covington, in 2013, again serving at First Baptist. Frequently, she would begin a Sunday School class for people who needed special love and attention. Dolores was preceded in death by both parents; and her first husband, Lowell T. Biddy, who died in 2009.

Survivors include her husband, Robert J. Rutland; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Holly Biddy; as well as her beloved grandchildren.

A Memorial Service for Dolores will be held Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church, Covington, with Dr. Cody McNutt officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Church Planting Fund, at First Baptist, 1139 Usher Street, Covington, GA 30014.
