Brenda Mae Bruce of Covington passed away Feb. 17, 2014, at the age of 67. Grandma Red, as she was affectionately known by so many, was a lively, spirited lady who loved life, adored her family, and especially cherished her time with her grandchildren. She liked spending time outdoors with the animals and traveling to the mountains. Grandma Red loved the holidays, and always enjoyed cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Bruce; parents, Floyd and Lela (Barnwell) Pugh; sister, Lou Norris; and her brothers, Monroe Pugh, Kenneth Pugh and Donald Pugh.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Pam and Tim Gauntt of Eatonton and Jennifer Bailey of Covington; sons and daughters-in-law, Jr. and Margie Welch and Robert Welch, all of Covington, and Matthew and Judy Bruce of Walnut Grove; grandchildren, Craig and Bekki Gauntt, Stephanie Gauntt, Brandon Welch, Jade Welch, Johnathan Bailey, Deanna Welch, Daniel Welch, and Justin Palmer; great-grandson, Caleb Gauntt; sister and brothers-in-law, Sue Music, Marie and Irvin Collier, and Frances and Maurice Scarborough; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sherley and Willene Pugh, and Mitchell and Hazel Pugh; sister-in-law, Pauline Pugh; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Grandma Red will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 21 at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd St., Covington, with interment following in Almon Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 20 at the funeral home.
