Mr. Willie James Richards was born January 24, 1943 to the late Mr. & Mrs. John Wesley (Annie Lavaughn) Richards Sr. in Jasper County; he was one of six children, three brothers and two sisters. Two brothers preceded him in death, Eddie Willis and John Wesley Jr.

Growing up in Jasper County, he attended the Jasper County Schools. In 1964, Willie united in holy matrimony to Ms. Carrie Ann Battle; they were blessed with two children.

He joined the Poplar Hill Church after moving to Newton County. He retired from the City Of Covington after seventeen years of employment. He departed his earthly life on Tuesday, January 8, 2013.

He leaves to cherish his memories; a son, Mr. James Anthony Richards, a daughter, Ms. Pamela Denise Richards, a committed friend and companion, Ms. Carrie Ann Richards, two sisters, Ms. Annette Talmadge, Jonesboro Georgia, Mr. & Mrs. Julius (Bernice) Johnson one brother, Mr. George Richards , Monticello, Georgia and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Poplar Hill A.M.E. Church, Mansfield, Georgia 30014. Rev. Ahmed Martin, Pastor, Eulogist; assisted by others.

Pallbearers: Fred Lavaughn, Jr., Wendel Lavaughn, John Smith, Demetrius Smith, Arthur Tuggle and Others. Flower Ladies: Nieces.

Interment will be held at Poplar Hill Cemetery, Mansfield, Georgia.

The family will greet guest and friends at the Mitchell Fellowship Hall following the Committal Service.
