      Mr. Roosevelt Lewis Roberts, the ninth child born to the late Mr. & Mrs. Rufus (Hattie Mae) Roberts on April 27, 1950, answered the call of the Lord on December 2, 2014 to come home.

      He attended school in Newton County, graduated from R.L. Cousins High School class of 1968. Roosevelt joined the Springhill United Methodist Church where he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior early in his life. During the years at Springhill, he sung in the choir and attended many summers of VBS. Roosevelt won the hearts of all who knew him with his gentle, loving and caring spirit.

       Roosevelt married the late Ms. Phyllis Scofield-Austin shortly after graduating from high school. To this union two children were born.

        Later in life, his devoted friend Ms. Margie Stodghill became his wife. They shared twenty-four happy and joyful years together until the Lord called him home.

     Roosevelt's favorite past time was making music with his guitar since age 13. He played his guitar and sung in the family band and The Off Limitz Band on special occasions. He also loved gardening; his specialty was growing collard greens. He shared his harvest with family and friends. By trade Roosevelt was an Upholsterer. With the tools of his trade, he could transform a piece into an object of beauty. Upholstery was his specialty, for the past forty years.

       He was preceded in death by one son, Mr. Donrico Martice Roberts, three brothers, Mr. Willie Roberts, Mr. Charlie Roberts and Mr. Clarence Roberts, one sister, Mrs. Ruby Price.

         Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memories, his wonderful wife, Mrs. Margie Roberts, one daughter, Ms. Wonda Cook, three sons, Mr. Kenneth Roberts, Mr. Gabriel Roberts and Mr. & Mrs. Nathan (Ronnie) Stodghill, eleven grandchildren, Michael Cook, LaReco Herring, Gabriel Roberts, Jr., Jeremiah Roberts, Aaliyah Roberts, KeAnna Smith, Kierra Roberts, Naterrioe Stodghill, Courtney Stodghill, Amari Stodghill and Maurice  Stodgill,  great grandchild, Elinah Smith, four sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Perryman, Mr. & Mrs. Frank (Carrie) Mathis, Mrs. Mary Sims and Mrs. Lillie Roberts, five sisters-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Nathaniel (Elise) Harris, Mr. & Mrs. Ralph (Mildred) Davis, Mr. & Mrs. Mike (Mary) Butler, Ms. Glenda Stodghill and Ms. Josephine Stodghill, four brothers-in-law, Mr. Sonny Stodghill, Mr. Michael Stodghill, Mr. Chuck Stodghill and Mr. Arthur Stodghill, a devoted, friend Mr. Bobby Weaver who was his play brother since childhood, his business partners and devoted friends for many years, Mr. Mark White and Mr. Jeff Stallings and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
