Norman Bennett, 89, of Covington, passed away August 15, 2016.. He was born to the late Willis and Jewell Bennett in Conyers. Bennett owned and operated the Chevron Service Station on Highway 278 for 40 years. Mr. Bennett was a member of Canaan Baptist Church for more than 20 years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Tony Lee Bennett; baby sister, Lenora Bennett, brothers, Clarence, Bill, Dallas, Johnny, and Baxter Bennett.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Frances Bennett; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Charles Cagle; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Brenda Bennett, all of Covington; grandchildren, Lynn Hammonds, Chris Bennett, Ryan Bennett, Blake Bennett; numerous great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Bennett will be held Thursday, August 18, 2016, 11 a.m., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. John M. Lance, Jr, officiating. A private interment will be held at Lawnwood Memorial Park. In lieu flowers contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Bennett to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation, Attention: Karen Lindsey, 1687 Tullie Circle, Atlanta, GA 30329.
