Mr. Johnny Frank Mathis, born April 15, 1931, earned his golden wings on Nov. 6, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and son, Antonio Ames Mathis.
Frank lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; fishing on the Yellow River, cooking meat on his handcrafted barbeque pit, playing a game of checkers with friends, and most of all spending time with family.
His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the life of his wife, Carrie Roberts Mathis; children, Gwendolyn Poindexter, Kathy Bell, and Johnny Mathis; sons-in-law, Gregory Bell and Will Poindexter; grandchildren, Kavaurio, West, Ivy, Kiunjis, Lamarsha, and Ashleigh; great-grandchildren, Kavauriyona, Kaydence, Tobias, Ky’ire and Jada; devoted family member, Deactria Mathis; and a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 at Springhill United Methodist Church, in Covington, with the Rev. William Hemphill II officiating.
