Gene N. Hardy, 72, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 9, 2016. He was born in Porterdale to the late Perry Lonnie and Florine Hardy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his brother Tommy Hardy, sister Hazel McGiboney and daughter Tammy Lynn Hardy.

Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and brother. He was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back with a heart of gold. Gene was a wonderful caregiver who took in many. He enjoyed working on and racing cars and watching car racing, loved working in his yard. Gene would never say good bye it was always “see ya later”

He is survived by his lovely wife Joyce Hardy; daughters, Starler Barnes, Deborah Johnson; sons, Donald (Brandi) Hardy, Greg Hardy; grandchildren, Katie Johnson, Scarlett Hardy, Jeffery Johnson; great-grandchildren, Jordan Hardy, Adrian Johnson, Aria Wade; brothers, Billy and Nellie Hardy , Ronald Hardy; sisters-in-law, Kathy Roper Hardy, Judy Hardy and many nieces and nephews

Services were held Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home with Mike Wadley officiating.
