Mr. Bobby Green, age 80, a lifelong resident of Covington passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014.  He was born April 19, 1933 in Covington to Rush and Ethel Herring Green who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Green served his country in the United States Army and was of the Methodist faith.  He worked for a number of years for Hercules as a supervisor over the shipping department and owned and operated Bob’s Carpet Service for many years.  Mr. Green loved horses, fishing, and farming and enjoyed riding in boats.  He was a loving caring father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. 

 

Mr. Green is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Karen and Grady Simpson of Toccoa, Georgia and Linda Richardson of Covington, his longtime companion Holly Firth of Shady Dale, his grandchildren Zach and Jacob Richardson and Kimberly Hamilton and Jeff Simpson along with his great grandchildren Cole and Caroline Hamilton.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Green will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday April 12, 2014 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Lester Cowan, Chaplin Jim Ross and Pastor Mike Wadley officiating.  Interment will follow at Oxford Historical Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Friday, April 11, 2014.  J.C.
