Mother Claudia Turner Strong

Mother Claudia Turner Strong was born on April 20, 1918, in Covington, Georgia, to the late Eugene and Mattie (Perry) Turner. She was the fourth of six siblings.

In her formative years, she attended the public schools in Newton County. She worked various jobs and was employed by Bibb Manufacturing Company until retirement.

She joined Union Grove UMC. At an early age and remained a faithful member until her health declined. She enjoyed fishing and relaxing on her front porch.

On Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, our mother and grandmother received her call to eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Strong; daughter, Betty Jean Hurst; two grandchildren; parents and siblings.

Left to cherish her fondest memories, sons, Mr. Joe Rogers Turner and Mr. Melvin (Judy) Woods; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, step-children other relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held Saturday, Sept. 28 at 12 p.m. at Union Grove United Methodist Church, at 757 Dixie Road, in Covington, with Rev. Kenneth Norrington and Pastor Theodis Bell, Jr. officiating.
