  Mildred Shy Gotell, affectionately known as "Fat" of Lithonia, Georgia. On the morning of January 2, 2016, a life vastly overflowing with outstanding qualities quietly departed this earth.

*Mildred  was born in Newborn, Georgia on January 9, 1937 in Morgan County, to the late Thomas and Rosie Lee Shy. At an early age, she joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Newborn. She attended school at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and then attended Pearl High School in Madison, Georgia. She later moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she continued her education at Booker T. Washington High School and later  joined Free for all Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.

*On July 26, 1961, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Linton Gotell, to this union two children were born.

*She was  preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Linton Gotell, brother, Mr. Roy C. Shy, two brothers-in-law, Mr. Richard Williams, Jr. and Mr. Charles Wilborn, two sisters-in-law, Ms. Sylvia Shy and Mrs. Irene Shy. One son-in-law, Mr. Charles E Bridges, Sr.

*Mildred worked for Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. She later changed her career path to accept employment with Donald's hair salon at Phipps Plaza located in Atlanta, Georgia. She retired her career in the late 70's to become a full time housewife and mother.

*She leaves to cherish her memories, four loving children, Mr. Carl Shy , Stone Mountain, Ga. Ms. Carolyn Bridges, Atlanta, Ga. Ms. Thia U. Gotell , McDonough, Ga. and Ms. Felita M. Holt , Lithonia, Ga., four grandchildren; Mr. Charles E. Bridges, Jr., Atlanta, Ga., Ms. Chenaka A. Bridges, Atlanta, Ga., Ms. LaDonna M. Holt and Master Donald S. Holt III, Lithonia, Ga., two great grandchildren; Nakiya A. Lowe and Sydnee C. Bridges, three brothers; Mr. Curtis Shy, Lithonia, Ga., Mr. Eddie Shy and Louis (Helen) Shy, Atlanta, Ga., three sisters; Mr. & Mrs. Eva (Roy) Robinson, Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Florine Wilborn, Lithonia, Ga. and  Mr. & Mrs. Gary (Lillie) Benton  Decatur, Ga., one brother- in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Henry (Wilma) Williams,  Decatur, Ga. Two sisters-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Eugene (Maggie) Williams, Covington, Ga. and Mr. & Mrs. Ralph (Annette) Williams, Atlanta, Ga., and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins,  other relatives and friends. A special "Thank You" to her dear sister Florine Wilborn, who assisted in her care to the very end of her journey and many other family members and friends.
