Mary Elizabeth Hopkins, age 21, of Covington passed away Friday, November 7, 2014.  She was born March 31, 1993 in Covington to Mike and Kelli Kirkley Hopkins.  Mary Elizabeth was born with Mitochondrial Disease and was expected to be here with us for 3 years; however, she shined that contagious smile for 21 years.  Described by her parents as a loving, gentle soul with a passion for life, she would often help Pastor Rob preach and pray while at church.  Mary Elizabeth loved to sing, her family could listen to her sing sometimes throughout the night.  She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents J.T. and Mary Jo Kirkley, her uncle Tommy Kirkley and her brother Abe Hopkins.

Mary Elizabeth is survived by her parents Mike and Kelli Hopkins of Covington, her sister’s; Michala and Marlee Anne, her paternal grandparents Bobby and JoAnn Hopkins of Covington her aunts and uncles Debbie Kirkley Curtis of Social Circle, Bryant Kirkley of Oxford and Paige and Bill Vandergriff of Covington along with numerous cousins, other family and a host of caring loving friends.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mary Elizabeth will be held at 4 o’clock Monday, November 10, 2014 at Eastridge Community Church with Pastor Rob Raynor, Pastor Scott Moore, Reverend Susan Taylor and Reverend Scott Emmons officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church following the service.  In lieu of flowers, those desiring, may make donations to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta,Children's Foundation, Park North 1577 Northeast Expressway Suite A, Atlanta, GA 30329, choagiving@choa.org  The Children’s Miracle Network at donations.childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org or Give Kids The World, 210 South Bass Road, Kissimmee, FL 34746, www.gktw.org.  J.C.
