Ms. Marian Brown, 81, of Covington, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019.  She was born Feb. 26, 1937 in Covington to Lawrence Trottie and Frances Arcana Scott Brown who have preceded her in death.  Ms. Brown was a 1959 graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville with a degree in Health and Physical Education.  She was a well-respected and successful high school varsity girls’ basketball coach at Southwest DeKalb, Shamrock and Towers High Schools all in DeKalb County.  Ms. Brown loved fishing, yard landscape and gardening. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Peggy Louise Swords and her brother Teddy Scott Brown.  Ms. Brown is survived by her nephews Gil Swords Jr., Steve Swords, Philip Swords, Scott Brown, and David Brown her niece Carol Reddick.  

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the home of Philip Swords.  She requested no formal service, no flowers and no contributions.  J.C.
