Larry Max Haigwood, of Mansfield, died December 23, 2009, at Atlanta Medical Center, at the age of 72. Born in Rome, Georgia to the late James W. and Lillian Ledford Haigwood, he was a United States Army veteran and was a member of Mansfield Baptist Church. Mr. Haigwood enjoyed wood working, gardening, fishing and constructing model ships and airplanes. Affectionately known as “Pappy,” he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. Mr. Haigwood was preceded in death by his sister, Sara Frances Mathis. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Elsie Haigwood of Mansfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and John Hudson of Acton, CA; Jennifer and Chad Locklear of Mansfield, grandchildren, Nikki Baca, Tommy Hudson, Amy Hudson, Madison Locklear, Tanner Locklear; great-grandchildren, Ashley Daddario, Allyson Daddario, Maddox Baca; brother, Jim Haigwood of Mason, OH; nephew, Kevin Haigwood of Cincinnati, OH. Funeral services for Mr. Haigwood will be held on Monday, December 28, 2:00 PM, at Mansfield Baptist Church, with Dr. Jeff Perkins officiating and interment following in New Covington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, on Sunday, December 27, from 6-9 PM.
