L. C. (Clark) Brand, of Oxford, died peacefully at his home, February 6, 2009, at the age of 86. Son of the late Lyman and Inez Campbell Brand, he was founder of Brand Electric Company. Mr. Brand had a very strong work ethic and stood firm on his beliefs. He enjoyed horticulture, farming and traveling and was a member and Past President of Dekalb Rotary Club where he had perfect attendance for 25 years. Mr. Brand was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys M. Brand, brothers, Joe Brand and Bob Brand, sister, Betty Wiggley. Survivors include wife, Frances E. Brand of Oxford; daughter and son-in-law, Emelyn and Tommy Mitcham of Oxford; son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Hazel Brand of Oxford; grandchildren, Kevin and Pam Mitcham of Oxford, Keith and Sandi Mitcham of Oxford, Ben and Amanda Brand of Covington; five great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, June and Jerry Hunt, Sr. of Cussetta, AL, Mary and Michael Maijala of Lilburn, Sarah and Andy Sheppard of Social Circle; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Martha Brand of Emerson, Ernest and Betty Brand of Good Hope, Mary Brand of Oxford, Sandra Brand of Glenville; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Brand will be held Sunday, February 8, 4:00 PM, at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Elder Gus Harter officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
