Mr. Kenneth Adams, 81, a lifelong resident of Newton County passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018.  He was born in Porterdale on Dec. 21, 1936 to James and Agnes Adams who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Adams graduated from Newton County High School and entered the United States Navy.  Following his service to his country in began his career that spanned 38 years with Lithonia Lighting.  He was an active member of the American Legion Post 32.  Mr. Adams was involved with The Boy Scouts of America for 60 years; he was an Eagle Scout and both of his sons achieved that prestigious title as well.  Mr. Adams was a longtime active member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class for 56 years.  He was a devoted Georgia Bulldog fan. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather he was known for helping people especially seniors.  Mr. Adams was an avid golfer and participated in the Lithonia Lighting Golf League for 35 years.  He loved the Ma and Paw’s Opry Music Show and attended almost all Friday night music shows.  Mr. Adams loved to travel as well, traveling with AARP and other travel clubs often.  He was preceded in death by his brother Gene Adams.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 54 years Wanda Bailey Adams, his son Jeff Adams, his son and daughter-in-law Keith and Oliva Adams, his daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Michael Hall, his grandchildren Brittany, Katie, Adam, Bailey, Abbigail and Maddilyn his great-grandson Kyler, his sister and brother-in-law Yvonne (Bailey) and Willie Moore along with several nieces, nephews other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Adams will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20 at Salem United Methodist with the Rev. Dan Dixon, the Rev. Carol Standard and Major Jack Butler officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friend from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018 at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home.
