Joseph Benjamin Wright of Covington, Georgia passed away at home on Oct. 3, 2017 from complications of prostate cancer. 

He was born in Girard, Georgia Sept. 3, 1926 to Helen and William Wright, the oldest of four brothers.   He served in the US Army from 1944 to 1946. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Ayers Wright on March 13, 1948.  Together, they had three daughters. 

Joe had a long, successful career with General Motors Buick Division for 43 years, retiring in 1989. He and Carolyn retired in Covington, Georgia where they enjoyed life in the country.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Covington and Murphy’s Gang Sunday School. 

He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, daughters Gail James and spouse Gus, Brenda Grycko and Susan McPhail.  He also leaves behind his one surviving brother Donald, two sister in-laws, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at First Baptist Church of Covington, 1139 Usher St. SW, Covington GA 30016.  The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. and the service will begin at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be made at www.wheelerfuneralhome.com.
