John “Raymond” Osborn, Sr., of Conyers passed away December 18, 2011 at Newton Medical Center.  He was 90 years old at the time of his death.  Mr. Osborn was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Beatrice (Merck) Osborn, and his parents, John Baxter and Cora Lee (Smith) Osborn.  Mr. Osborn owned and operated Osborn Plumbing Company, Inc., and was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Navy as a gunner’s mate.  He enjoyed nature with his hunting, fishing and gardening.  Other pleasures were reading and canning fruits and vegetables.  What he enjoyed most was attending his grandchildren’s activities and events, and spending time with family and friends.  Mr. Osborn was a man of few words and often said “If you don’t have something good to say, don’t say anything at all.” 

 

Mr. Osborn is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Elaine Osborn of Covington; daughter, Susan René Osborn of Conyers; grandchildren, Candace Melissa Osborn, Bobbie René Osborn; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Chase Osborn and Tatum Lynn Corley.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Osborn will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Darrell Allen officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, December 20, from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M.
