Mr. J. Michael (Mike) Fuchs, 55, of Covington, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Feb. 25. The son of John and Mary Ann Fuchs, he was born May 28, 1957, in Waco, Texas.


He graduated from Newton County Comprehensive High School in 1975 and went on to earn a degree in accounting from Georgia State University.


Mr. Fuchs was self-employed. A kind and devoted son, brother and friend, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, reading, playing on his computer and flee market sales. Mr. Fuchs was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as financial secretary of the Virgin Mary Counsel. He truly fit the bill of one who “never met a stranger,” for he loved to chat with people from all walks of life. Mr. Fuchs was a devoted parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph M. and Clara R. Fuchs and Frank and Virginia Ebelhar, all of Louisville, Ky.

He is survived by his parents John and Mary Ann Fuchs; sister and brother-in-law Diana and Randy Wright; brother Ken Fuchs all of Covington; sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Victor Weaver of Atlanta; nephew and niece Evan and Carolyn Fuchs of Covington; numerous other family and close friends.


A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with the Rev. Roberto Orellana officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Church Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to Counsel 11340 of the Knights of Columbus, 11524 Highway 278 E., Covington, GA 30014.
