Mr. John A. Benton was the youngest of four children born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Arshion (Pauline Blackwell) Benton. He was born in 1935. He was peceded in death by siblings Annie Ruth Benton, Mary (Robert) Maddox, Margaret (Seal) Freeman and Clinton Benton. He was educated in the public schools of Newton County and was employed by Hill Phoenix Company in Conyers for many years.Mr. Benton was a good, hard-working man who kept to himself. He was a good friend to those who knew him and a supportive, loving man to his family. He loved antique cars and restored several during his lifetime.
Surviving are sister Leola (Otis) Biggs of Covington; daughter Deneithia Brooks of Covington; sons Michael "Mike" (Norma) Turk of Decatur, Bennie Lee Manuel of Atlanta; grandchildren Mykius, Darmious, Tyren; adopted grandchildren Twanna (Felix) Robinson, Shawanna (Dexter) Mitchell; devoted niece and devoted nephews Brenda (Leroy) Nolley, Leon (Jimmy) Benton, Theotis Gibbs; other loving nieces and nephews Elaine (the Rev. H.K.) Benton, Cheryl Height, Clarence Price, David Price, Dana (Lovett) Maddox, Merlin Maddox; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Nov. 21 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Hawkins, the Rev. Rufus Roseberry and the Rev. Willie Smith officiating. Interment followed at Macedonia Cemetery.
