Joe Edward Blair, of Social Circle, died Sept. 29 at Clearview Regional Medical Center. The son of Allen C. and Mary Louise Wacter Blair, he was born in 1930, in Thomaston.

He was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially Gaithers. He and his wife visted nursing homes to minister to residents. He worked on several mission projects and spent the night with residents at a homeless shelter near Atlanta. He was an active member of Zion Baptist Church for 11 years and most recently a member of First Baptist Church of Social Circle.

Mr. Blair is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marie P. Blair; son, Ken Michael Blair, of Social Circle; brother, James Allen Blair, and nephew, John Allen Blair, of Dacula. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary and Allen Blair, and his brother, Ernest C. Blair.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Reese Sanders and the Rev. Mike Hardy officiating. Interment will be at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4.
