Jerry “Stanley” Puckett was the first of two children born in Conyers to the late Jerry Will Puckett and Irene Bennett Puckett.

Stan was a high school graduate of Newton County and was talented in many areas. He enjoyed playing the bass guitar, fishing and most sports. Give Stan a grill and a sunny day and you would be guaranteed a fine plate of barbecue. Stan gave his life back to Christ on March 1, 2015, and was a member of Peek’s Chapel Baptist Church, where he found joy in singing in the men’s choir.

Stan departed this earthly home and joined his heavenly home the early morning of Friday, Dec. 1, 2017. Preceding Stanley in death and, along with his father, there to welcome him to glory are his grandparents, John H. and Daisy “Big Ma” Bennett and his beloved uncle, Mr. Horace Bennett.

He leaves to cherish his memories, mother, Irene (Thomas) Puckett; daughter, Briahna “Brie” Puckett; sister, Sandra (Melvin) Roy; nephews, Antonio “Tony” Puckett, Alex Puckett; a very special and dear friend, Tessa Jackson; devoted and supportive aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Services began at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Lester Lackey & Sons Funeral Home in Covington with the Rev. Ted Glore as eulogist. Burial followed at the Flat Shoals Cemetery.
