Mr. J.D. Parks, age 80, of Covington passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born January 2, 1936 in Ellijay, Georgia to the late Horace and Stella Davenport Parks.  Mr. Parks was a carpenter and describe by his family as a “jack of all trades”.  He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend and was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby “Booties” Parks, his brother Jack, and his sisters; Katherine, Joann, Bennielee and Glenda.  Mr. Parks is survived by his children; Doris Stowe (Gary), Billy Parks (Melody Smith), Dennis Parks (Dale), Woody Parks, Gail Williamson and Donna Grant (Bernard), his sisters; Oleda, Aileen and Joyce along with 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Parks will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Clayton Bone officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 10:00am until 12:00pm prior to the service.  J.C.
