James (Jim) Carl Davies, 83, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully December 18, 2016. In his early years James served in the Navy during the Korean War. Later he attended and received degrees from several universities, including Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, and the Atlanta Law School. His last career was IT Director for Newton County Tax Commissioner’s office. After his retirement James served as bailiff for the Jasper County court system. He had a zest for life and loved spending time in his camper in the mountains of North Georgia, fishing on the flats in Florida, and especially enjoyed cruising. He will be remembered for his ability to make people smile with his storytelling. James will be missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, co-workers, and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Stiles Davies.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Dina and Barry Bowen; son and daughter-in-law, David and Connie Davies. “Paw-Paw”, as he was known, is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Drew and Alex Bowen, Zack (Amber) Davies and family, Grant Davies, Jonathan Davies, Brittany Lynn, Lauren (Andrew) Hodge and children, and Matt Keever. Additionally he is survived by his siblings, William (Bill) Davies of Conyers, Kay Phillips of Gainesville, Glen (Mayjet) Davies of Big Canoe; sister-in-law, Jeanette Davis of Crede, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather at a later date for a celebration of life.
