Hugh Troy Butler, Sr., age 55, of Oxford, passed away June 6, 2014. A native of Newton County, his family was among the first Newton County settlers. He was a member of The Pentecostals of McDonough where he enjoyed sharing his gift of music. He played guitar and bass, loved to sing and was a very talented artist. Loving father and husband, he will be sorely missed. Hugh was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Butler, and father, Raleigh Butler; and brother, Johnny Butler.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Willene Price Butler; daughter, Breanna M’Lynn Butler; sons and daughter-in-law, Hugh Troy Butler, II, all of Oxford, Andrew William and Rachel Winnell Harvey Bulter of Loganville; sister and brother-in-law, Rollene and Jim Blackstock; brother and sisters-in-law, Gary Patrick and Janice Butler all of Newborn, Clarice Price Whitfield of Oxford; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Hugh will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014, 1:00 P.M., at The Pentecostals of McDonough, 1181 Highway 42 N, in McDonough, with his son, Andrew William Butler and Pastor Charles P. Harvey officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, June 9, from 5– 9 p.ms.
